*Important Vote in Senate This Week*
The US Senate will be voting, perhaps as early as today, on Senate
resolution * S.J. 68, Tim Kaine's War Power Resolution, *which directs the
President to terminate the use of U.S. Armed Forces for hostilities against
Iran unless explicitly authorized by a congressional declaration of war or
a specific authorization for use of military forces against Iran. *It will
be helpful if you call your Senators today (Republicans especially) and ask
them to vote in favor of this resolution *
*Congressional Switchboard 1-202-224-3121 *
*Actions by the House of Representatives*
- Before the recess, the House of Representatives passed *H.R, 2456, *which
was a bill to repeal the 2002 Authorization to Use Military Force, which
has been used by administrations of both parties to to cover combat in
Somalia, Yemen and Iran. Vote was: 228-175.
- The House also also passed *H.R, 5543,* prohibiting U.S. military
action against Iran without prior congressional approval, by a margin of
236-166.
