To members and friends of Historians for Peace and Democracy,

Here are a couple of notes about recent virtual events whose presentations
were recorded and are readily available online.

1. About nine thousand persons took in one or more sessions of the online
conference "Truth, Dissent & the Legacy of Daniel Ellsberg" this past
weekend, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the release of the Pentagon
Papers. The conference was organized by historian Chris Appy and was
sponsored by the University of Massachusetts Amherst. The recordings of all
eight sessions are available at
https://www.ellsbergpapers.org/conference/recordings
<https://www.umass.edu/ellsberg/conference/schedule>. Among the sessions
are "The American War in Vietnam and Why It Still Matters," "The Pentagon
Papers and Watergate" (with John Dean and other figures from the Watergate
drama), "Antiwar Movements Then and Now," and "Whistleblowers" (the plenary
panel, with Daniel Ellsberg, now age 90, and Edward Snowden, speaking from
exile).

2. An all-day "Cold War Truth Commission" on March 21 was sponsored by
CODEPINK, Witness for Peace, RootsAction, Veterans for Peace, and several
other antiwar organizations. It included 53 presentations on specific
topics, ranging from 3 to 20 minutes in length. CODEPINK has put all of the
individual talks online at
