Finally, there is an effort by Congressional Representatives to call for diplomacy in resolving the Ukraine crisis. The Chair of the Progressive Caucus Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal is circulating a letter to her colleagues, addressed to President Biden. While endorsing the Administration's decision to support the government of Ukraine, it emphasizes that this contribution "also creates a responsibility for the United States to seriously explore all possible avenues, including direct engagement with Russia to reduce harm and support Ukraine in achieving a peaceful settlement." It urges the President "to seek a rapid end to the conflict as a chief priority while all while continuing to respect Ukraine's sovereign decisions."

This is the first organized effort by members of Congress to call for an exploration of diplomacy as a way to end the war. It would be extremely helpful to call your Representative today and urge them to contact Congresswoman Jayapal's office and add their name to the letter, calling for negotiations.
