Friends,

We are on the precipice. You understand how grave and imminent the threat
is from the combined forces of the Koch network and MAGA.

Yet as so many of you have written to me, the question is: What can we do?
The most important thing we can do to launch the pivotal year of 2022 on a
winning footing is to remind our communities of the insurrection and
attempted coup of January 6, 2021.
On January 6, a faction of elected officials tried to overthrow the choice
of the people by inciting armed right-wing militants to attack our
Capitol--and then tried to block an investigation to cover up their role in
this deadly violence.

That is why it is crucial to say “Enough” and turn the tide by coming out
together in large numbers all across the country for *candlelight vigils on
January 6th, 2022, this Thursday, exactly one year after the violent attack
on the Capitol. *

That now-infamous day was only the beginning. The same faction that
attacked our country is hard at work silencing our voices by restricting
our freedom to vote, attacking fair voting districts, and quietly preparing
future attempts to sabotage free and fair elections and with it our
democracy--so government cannot do what the people want.

It is no exaggeration to describe the integrated efforts from the radical
right as a slow-motion coup. To stop it, our leaders must pass urgent
legislation that will protect this country from anti-democratic forces who
are continuing their efforts to destroy it.

We can do our part to ensure the future we want by mobilizing for these
events—and then doing everything we can to ensure robust turnout in
November.
